here's another example of how well advertising works. The insane idea of KRINKing this mini coop automatically becomes a cool and edgy thing to do when you add a backdrop, cool music, and interesting angles. With these skills, if finely tuned, i could sell a used toothbrush!

caught my i.....pad
So i'm not ashamed to say that i'm an anti Ipad individual. I believe it's somewhat pointless for many reasons, but i'm not about to get into it. However, this DID catch my attention and had me quite intrigued for a while. Its an app called SketchBookPRO and it's lookin mighty fine.....

E*Trade babies!
i love these commercials as much as anyone does, and for the most part they're hilarious. But there's been some buzz about this recent commercial as Lindsay Lohan seems to be suing e-trade over the ad. Could this be a sign of desperation?
some green-screening you probably never knew about.
These days you would think you can point out when a studio is using green-screening or not, but after watching this i guess that isn't the case! **Warning** IGNORANCE IS BLISS!

Cancerbots Activate!

Behold, the medicine of the future! These nanobots are the latest and greatest in the fight against cancer. The test results are in, and these little buggers are a great success with no side-effects! Again, its another sign of the times when you have a bunch of little robots getting the job done correctly on such a small scale!
microsoft refuses to help

Bill gates has continued to disagree with Sergy Brin, the co-founder of Google, who is taking a strong stand against China's censorship. Gates said that he thought that the censorship was "limited", and Brin could only say that Gates "spoke directly against free speech just for the sake of contradicting google." Brin is continuing to raise awareness of the censorship going on in China, and believes that its an issue that should be getting as much notice as any of the other top stories going on in the world today.

The Game that aims to save the world!
There is a new online game that teaches users how to solve real world problems and help create leadership skills so that these users can apply those same skills in reality, and ultimately change the world for the better. Personally i think its worth taking a look at....

amazing digital paintings
Here are some really good looking digital paintings i saw yesterday while looking up some photoshop tutorials. Digital Painting is alot of work, but compared to real painting it is A LOT easier. You can pull of two or three color schemes for one piece in about a week, and you can email the files off to your employer in another state at any time. It is just a really efficient way of handling artwork these days and i am definitely going to be doing alot of it...

The two leading Christian Video game companies, Left Behind Games and Digital Praise, are joining forces as of last week. According to Digital Praise's CEO, the Christian Gaming Market is getting bigger every day, and in the coming year America is going to see ALOT of it. Here's a little preview of some of the games that these companies have come up with..

Stop Motion T shirt War!
Here is a cool stop motion film i came across this week. I saw it on youtube, and I must say i couldn't take my eyes off of it. It's got a completely DIY feel, all of the shirts were made custom for the shoot, and the soundtrack consists of voice sound effects. I really liked this film as it is a breath of fresh air, and very cleverly thought out. Props to the RhettandLink youtube channel, can't wait to see what else they come up with.

Real or Fake?
With everyone trying to have their ten minutes of fame these days it is getting harder and harder to trust that a viral video is actually real or not. One of the more recent characters to emerge on the scene is a guy known as Francis. This is his famous video:
Now, I've heard on many accounts that this video is fake and that he is acting out for the views, and although that is a sort of relief that this is not a real person, it only proves my point. Viral videos have impacted our society in many ways, and have made fame available through things as simple as a webcam and a script. If you need an example as to how viral videos have impacted advertising, just take a look at the recent superbowl that just passed. Most of the commercials, especially the Doritos commercials, all had that "Viral video Vibe".

Counter-media blunder film
I recently came across an independent film that is going to feature artists such as Shepard Fairey, Banksy, WK interact, and other Counter culture underground superstars. The film is going to be produced by paranoid pictures and should definitely be some sort of comedy, as it is basically a film about street art gone wrong. These artists are responsible for the counter culture media, or as i have heard it "counter-media" that is seen on many city streets. Should be interesting......

Army starting to turn to game consoles for training.

The United States Military is starting to turn towards using game consoles to train its soldiers for military operated vehicles since it is both very popular and very easy to work with. Using game consoles saves the military alot of time and money that would otherwise be spent on creating a whole new operating platform and teaching soldiers how to use it. This is another example of this generations traits and how technology is actually contributing to them.

my prediction for game of the year 2010!
Bioshock 2. Yeah i knew it would look amazing but once again i was surprized completely at how theatrical they made the game. I've been following this game for a long time now and i really cant wait to see this game when it comes out early this year.

Day n Nite
I know I'm a little late on this being that the video came out in October of 2009 but just recently i became interested in Music Videos and the Creativity involved in them. A video that really surprised me happened to be "Day N Nite" by Kid Cudi. It surprised me for two reasons, one being more obvious, the first reason is that there had already been a music video for this song, but this one was something i hadn't seen before. The second reason would have to be the animations involved in the video. I have to say, i love them to death and couldnt help but nod my head as i was listening. Take a look:

Academy of Art University
Being in 11th grade, I'm starting to take an interest in colleges. Specifically art colleges. Now, something that struck me yesterday happened to be a commercial I saw for the Academy of Art University. When i saw this commercial I was surprised, see, two years ago i took a good look at this university, and in all of their pamphlets they focused on non stop art, "Art this, Art that" but in this commercial yesterday they focused mainly on "New Media". I couldn't find the ad today, but here's some of the stuff coming out of the University, just to give you a taste on what it might be like. Looks like they are widening their playing field though........

Something I'd be interested in doing......
Machinima, What is it? Machinima is when you take a video game, and dub voices over the screen shots you take. Its really interesting, and over the past few years the films people come up with are becoming more and more intricate. One of the big names in Machinima would have to be RoosterTeeth, a group responsible for "Red vs. Blue" a very funny series based on the Video Gaming Cult Classic "HALO". Again, i really would love to see if i can do this in the future. Check it out:

Tempt One
The legendary Graffiti writer, Tempt One, suffers from Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a disease that causes paralysis. Currently, he cannot move from the neck down, in fact his movement is highly limited to every part of his body except for his eyes. In an Alhambra Hospital, a very affordable program known as EyeWriter, allows him to write graffiti on the computer using only his eyes. It is an amazing example of how technology can bring happiness into all of our lives. Just check it out:

introducing KAWS
In the world of Graphic design. One person that is at the head of Vinyl toys, as well as clothing design and album covers happens to be graffiti writer-turned designer KAWS. Slowly but surely his popularity has been gaining since 2000 and he came out on top of the scene in the last three years.

Graffiti of the digital realm
As some of you may know i would one day love to do graphic design as a profession. My main form of artwork revolves around the graffiti aspect, and is greatly influenced by the artform. One of the ways that i can express my artwork through the computer is through Photoshop. Slowly but surely i am building my skills in the program, and hopefully one day i can be as good as certain people i have seen use the program. Such as this guy:

Wacom Intuos 4. top of my wishlist for whenever!
Okay, so i know i wasn't really active on the blogs for the last holiday season, and in this new year there are a couple of things that i still want to acquire into my collection of graphic design equipment. The top of my wishlist? Oh yes, I still want a Wacom tablet! I don't need a big fancy one, but it would be nice to have one from the Intuos4 series. Last year, Wacom took a step back and changed how they made tablets. With the Intuos4 series, they increased the amount of pressure levels they had in the strokes, increased compatibility qualities, and increased ease of use to make a practical tool of the trade. I've been meaning to blog about this product for a while so please excuse the lateness on my part. How dare i review a product that is more than a month old?
Gosh!
Here's a flick of the schemes for the smallest of the four sizes for the tablets

Ubi soft, Still at it

Ubisoft has continued working on thier latest music game. Yes, even as the money flow seems to decline for the gaming industry, let alone the economy as a whole, Ubisoft seems to keeep going. who knows? maybe this time i'll actually go out and buy a music game for once? maybe i'll actually be impressed with the visual graphics? Maybe these graphics will not come in the form of cartoonish stereotypical characters? But i wont go on ranting.
My opinion? If you're going to spend this much money, make sure its good, please.
